Comedy, romance, drama, a huge cat and a little snogging, what more could you ask for in a book? This is the formula that Louise Rennison uses for her first book in the series of Confessions of Georgia Nicholson. Georgia’s diary, filled with all of the yearning of being better looking, trying to understand boys, the ups and downs of drama with friends and the anxiety of family, is hilarious enough to cause milk to come out of your nose while emotional enough to develop a caring for the main character and her plights.

While trying to help her best friend snog a boy, Georgia meets her own S.G. Of course, this gets complicated by an unfortunate finding of her at a party, her own running into him without any make-up (oh no!) and her own stubbornness at him having a girlfriend (how dare he!). Not only this, but then trying to understand boys, kissing them (which way to turn the head...?), why is her mom giggling at the handyman while her dad is away, and what is that strange smell in her bedroom...?

All of this is examined and thought upon in her diary. Now, while very well written and much like an actual teenage diary, it is very British (including language, but luckily she provides a glossary) and very personal. A thoroughly good read with great moments of having fun and meeting good characters.

Read in 2008-2009. Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging and On The Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God in one volume. Angus is cute and witty, but Girlfriend of a Sex God is more of the same and gets very tedious. The plot never advances in the second book.

Read it if you want a parody about teen girls. Funny if you don't take any of it seriously.

Funny, endearing, relatable, and just a darn good series of stories!! ;) It's written in a diary fashion and it's one of the best diary fashion stories I've ever laid my eyes on!! The main character is amusing and falls into some hilarious situations! I'm not sure what the movie did for the series but the books are amazing!!!
