I really enjoyed this book! My only criticism is that it was too long. At 400+ pages it needed more editing, but it kept me engaged all the way thru. Even though I'm not a big sci-fi person, this one was good.

This is a one-of-a-kind first novel by a British author--a brilliant examination of how a deeply felt loss may trigger a disintegration that affects language itself. Even the pages are inventively structured to support times of ineffability. Fascinating, painful, unique!

I haven't actually read this one entirely. I tried but gave up after about 80 pages. I just couldn't get into it.

Phantom Tollbooth for adults on crack. In a good way. not sure about the ending, though.

Bizarre concept... but really exciting and clever.. kind of like "The Matrix" and "Jaws" wrapped up into a well-written book!

Huh. I'm still debating and reviewing this book in my head...which is probably a good thing. I'm not sure if I loved it or was disappointed by it, or if the story still hasn't' resolved in my mind.

Needless to say, The Raw Shark Texts took a new way of reading and writing to another level. With all the advances in technology, we still seem to print books with rhythmic, unflinching lines, page after page, with only breaks for chapter changes. This did NOT follow the format, and even though it might have utilized the techniques with more regularity, the blurred text and the diagram of letters only enhanced the story.

Yeah, I guess it was pretty good...probably better than the three stars I'm going to give it.

This was one of the most fun and best written and original novels I have ever read. From page one it kept me gripped and I did little else but read last weekend. The concepts are intriguing and the mild sci-fi connection should not drive away people who hate sci-fi. I am recommending this book to everyone I know.

I THINK I know what happened. Good concept. Inventive way to write. Overall not bad.

A unique and trippy book that reads like a disturbing dream. This book literally and figuratively represents the power of the written word--a talented writer indeed.
