I thought it started out great, but went downhill as the book went on. I love the amnesia and the love story, but i lost interest as the book got more sci fi.

If only i could get those hours i spent staring at this mess of a book back. Halfway through it, maybe sooner, you will find yourself wondering if you should keep reading. The storyline will get fairly retarded but you will tell yourself that its going somewhere and maybe you will come up with some exciting possibility of what is about to take place. Well, youre wrong, my friend, cause it doesnt go anywhere. The author piles on layer after layer of weird BS right up to the dismal, dissapointing, ridiculous end.

I found The Raw Shark Texts entertaining and interesting thanks to a rather unconventional plot, playful use of language/typography/visuals, and a fast pace, but Hall failed to create a believable fictional world. What starts out as tightly formulated concept seems to unravel as the plot progresses leaving too many unexplained and unsupported ideas to tie it all together. It's the Matrix meets Jaws when it wants to be Neuromancer meets The Old Man and the Sea or Moby Dick.

Jaws meets The Matrix. This novel was a fun read. How often do you get to show your four year old daughter a shark flip book while reading. I was a little disappointed in the ending, but without giving away any spoilers, I'll leave it at that.

Probably the most enjoyable book I have read this year (2008). Loved the premise and the characters. I have recommended it to others but it is so out there that I don't know if they will appreciate it or not.

I was really excited to read this because it sounded like The Bourne Identity meets The Matrix, but it just didn't quite get to that level. I guess that's why it took me longer to get through it than other books. It's imaginative and existential, so if you're into that, you might enjoy it more than me.
