“Interesting ideas presented here. Probably not a book for everyone, but if you can go with the concept, you will be rewarded.”

Hard to follow and keep up with because of the numerous conceptual creatures, objects, and settings. You have to have some imagination to get through it..
Also contains many losts, negatives, and un-'s, but keep reading and it will all make sense in the end!
I've never read a book like the 'Raw Shark Texts' and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys sci-fi.”
“The Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall is definitely a book I'll be picking up and reading once, or maybe even twice more. The writing style was wonderful, as were the pictures formed out of words on many of the pages in the book. It really brought the conceptual shark, the Ludovician, to life for me. It was almost like in Jaws, the movie-not the book, when the shark would come out of the water. It was a very fun experience reading the story. I'd recommend this book to anybody looking for a thrilling read that may play with your mind a bit. Scout and Eric, as well as Dr. Fidorous are all well developed quirky characters who I got very attached to within the first appearances of them all. It's an intoxicating read, truly. Five stars, give it a shot!! ”

Yes | No“Heavily hyped first novel: they seem to be trying to construct a new "House of Leaves" cult thing. Protagonist wakes up with amnesia: turns out he's being stalked by a kind of information predator which ate his memories and is tracking him through the noosphere.
Reasonably good: has some memorable images and some nice touches. The mechanics of the information battles are cleverly worked out.
However, there are some weaknesses, like a cloyingly sentimental romantic subplot. Definitely has an enthusiastic-but-clumsy first novel feel. Not bad overall.”
“I finished the first chapter and I have a feeling this is going to be one of those books that I stay up all night reading and call into work for...its promising so far
sorry boss
sooo it started out soo well but I just couldnt make it through the last quarter...did not hold my interest...I put it down :(”
“I LOVED this book. A refreshing change.”

I began reading it a few days ago and I couldn't put it down. I read the German edition of it, so I can't say much about the "hyphen-problem" which a lot of people mentioned in their reviews. I found the writing very inspirational and interesting. I was a little bit confused when I first got to a page with a giant fish made out of words, but later I enjoyed this little "pictures" (especially the shark flip book at the end).
I loved the premise of the book. The whole amnesia conflict hooked me and was one of the reasons I could not put this book down. I wanted to know more about the First Eric Sanderson and about Clio's death.
I didn't like Scout though. The whole thing between her and Eric was so obvious from the start. It didn't convince me. And I expected more at the end. Before that you could never tell what would happen next, but the ending was just too "perfect" for such a brilliant book. ”
“I absolutely adored this. It was a completely innovative presentation of fiction. I am still digesting and interpreting - and I can't say a book has done that to me for a long, long time. It is definitely not main-stream fiction. If you are looking for another cookie-cutter Koontz thriller, look somewhere else.”
