I was hoping for a really good, engrossing summer read, and stumbled upon this (that'll teach me to troll the bargain bin). It's only OK -- it takes itself too seriously, and is obviously indebted to the Matrix and Richard Dawkins' "The Selfish Meme."

The book tries too hard to be too many things, and is ultimately rather unfulfilling.

I like the book, although like you, I felt a little unfulfilled in the end. I was thinking that maybe he was insane, or something more clever than I can come up with, or obviously, the author could come up with. Maybe I didn't get it. I would still recommend that book, "at the end of the day". (One of my favorite lines from the book). I'm interested in your comparisons with "The Selfish Meme", which I haven't read yet, though I have read "The God Delusion".
