Wouldn't he have been wonderful to have known? Someone to ask questions of who could respond so thoughtfully. One of my favorites of all time.

I've just finished the Prologue and the first two chapters and I already think that this will likely become my favorite Lewis book. It is more like having an interesting conversation with the author than reading a deep theological book but he makes wise points and in such a way that they are clear and easily understood.

Lewis brings up the deep-end questions, but seems to evade them with paradoxes that leave the reader wading. The middle half of this novel is worth reading, however, for a sound explanation of Christian intention that is so often skewed, and the section on marriage was enlightening. The latter end of the book can be ignored.

Much of the content contained within this great Christian literary classic was very deep and thought-provoking, and in some instances highly challenging to comprehend. But with what content I did grasp I was able to gain a better understanding of the dynamics of my own faith from a completely different and perhaps unconventional angle. Mere Christianity has become yet another tool for me to add to my arsenal of weaponry in defending the Christian faith against those that consider themselves: atheists, skeptics, academic scholars, philosophers, and free-thinkers. It is apparent to me that Lewis addressed these writings to not only a general audience, but to a people who are perhaps at a crossroads in their own life whose desire is to learn and find out more about Christ, and the people who call themselves Christian.

C.S. Lewis is a masterful storyteller. I thoroughly enjoyed many of the illustrations and analogies that Lewis often used throughout his writings. I envision myself using these same illustrations in future ministry opportunities while telling others about Jesus who may not know Him. This same tactic of using illustrations and analogies can also become very useful for people who can better relate to stories rather than the use of scripture or religious jargon that might seem foreign to them or repel them away from matters of faith.

I believe this book becomes more relevant to each passing day we live, relevant to a society that has become increasingly hostile towards Christianity. I believe more people are abandoning the faith and instead turning towards alternative religions or systems of belief. I myself have come into contact with more people than ever before who consider themselves atheist. And it is this book that I believe is perfect for them. If anything, this book will help better equip me to engage in a scholarly yet simple, down-to-earth, conversation with them. I look forward to the challenge someday.

One of my very Favourites. The insight and warmth, the stark honesty and the depth of Lewis is legendary. A must-read for every serious student.

one of my favorites. I loved his analogy of christianity being a hallway, and you must pick a door(specific religion), you can't remain in the hallway.
I read this during a time when I had someone close going through marriage issues. Issues that I would normaly recommend they end the relationship. This book helped me to see that marriage is bigger than that...anyway, my review does not due the book justice. I recommend everyone read this book. It is an easy book to read...some of his others are a little harder to understand.
