This book brings up wonderful questions about the United States' judicial system. Steve was still legally a child, but being tried as an adult (which seems to happen quite frequently these days). As a teen, Steve is not yet old enough to vote, and therefore does not even have the opportunity to influence the institutions responsible for making laws or upholding justice. Just because the crime Steve is charged with is violent and serious, does that give the state a right to treat him as an adult?

"Steve Harmon was the main character in the book Monster by Walter Dean Myers. Steve is a 16 year old African American on tail for murder. Steves attornys name was O'Brien and he wanted steve to look like a human in the eyes of the judge and the jury. Steve feels very inasent because he wasnt accutaully the one who pulled the trigger he was just look out. He feels like that he shouldnt have a punishment becuase he wasnt the killer."

Steve Harmon, a african-american 16 year-old who is on trial for a murder he never commited. One late afternoon at a neighberhood drugstore 2 bandits came rushing in and stole money and killed a man, Alguinaldo Nesbitt who was 55 years old. Police came knocking on Steve's door a couple months later , they claimed that he was part of the murder at the drugstore.

On trial, Steve writes in his notbook while he is in the cell and from his writing he describes how terrible it is in jail. At night is the only time you can cry because your tears are blocked out by everybody getting beat up because they showed weakness. All Steve wants is to get out of there as quick as he can.

This is an overall googd book although it gets confusing at times. It starts out with the main character in jail. He's saying how you need to do things to keep from going insane in jail. He tries to cry during the night so he doesnt get beat up or gang raped. But then he starts to right out a movie script of him in jail and him going to court. He states the different camera views and things like that. Steve Harmon (main chracter) says that this is the one way to keep from going crazy.

during the process of making the movie script steve goes in for his hearing. Mr. Harmon rights down what evreybody does in court right down to there facial expressions.
