A young boy and his "friends" are put in the courtroom and are on trial for murder and burglary. This book is okay, it is very hard to get into and is boring at times but is good for people who like court trial reads.

    A) I have never read many books about a court case befor, Monster is really based around one character and one place, its also a true story which makes it even harder to compare.
B)The writers style was complete from his point of veiw. The book was writen as the character saw it threw his eyes.
C)Steve didnt really "developed" anything...he more so gained a sense of how to chose his friends.
D)The theme about bering in jail and going through that trouble....i've been there not on this seirouse of a charge but i can relate to it in someways.
E)This novel is a true story and its isnt just on then it shows the whole story and adds all the facts up to get the same verdict.

    Realistic fiction
This book isn’t hard to read but it’s written like a screen play but you get used to it at the middle of the book.
Monster is about an African American boy getting trailed for participating in a drug store robbery that he claimed he didn’t take part in. This book takes you into a world where race is a factor in how you live, act, and treat other people. I really enjoyed this book and liked how the author wrote it. It was different than all of the other books that I’ve read. You can really get a feel on how the character is doing and what he feels, and how his family takes this especially his younger brother.
