The few recipes I tried in here were good enough, and they had a fair amount for pressure cookers, which was good, but almost always the recipes called for some exotic ingredient. Great stuff maybe, but not what a novice cooker or grad student wants. I mainly used it for a few of my soups.

One of my first books. Still a go-to-book for me.

I received this book as a wedding gift in 1967 but never used it much. With the revival of Julia Child's cookbook The Art of Mastering French Cooking, I'm finding that Joy of Cooking is helpful to me in different ways, by explaining ingredients. I really like the Brownies Cockaigne recipe.
