I did not like the format of this cook book. I am used to the traditional format of the ingredients listed first then the instructions.

a lot of great cooking and food information, but i find that most of the recipes are more for when you have company (and i never have any) than for daily family meals. hopefully i'll get a chance sometime to make some of this stuff, because it looks great.

The classic JOC is consistently good and a great reference for the new or experienced cook.

I live by this book- once a week I take a peek and find one recipe that I experiment with. I say experiment, because I never follow a recipe. This cookbook is just as good as any Betty Crocker book, if not better.

I think my edition is like from the 60's. This is the only cookbook my mother ever owned. She has since given me her copy. =)~

The bible of North American cooking. It's got everything from where a flank steak comes from to how to make a rusty nail to how to pick out the perfect artichoke.
