  • Toby: Toby is the main character in the book. His mom left to Nasshville to become a singer and has never returned. This is a hard time in Toby's life between his mom, girls, Cal and Zachary his life is going to become chaotic.
  • Cal: Cal is the most curious and biggest fan of Zachary Beaver. Cal is Toby's best and only friend. He is the one that made Toby get involved in helping, and finding out who Zachary truly is.
  • Zachary Beaver: Zachary Beaver is said to be the fattest boy in the world. He comes to Antler, Texas in a trailer to be a part of a freak show. Toby and Cal come to see Zachary and soon find out that there is more to Zachary then they think.
