This Series of Chapter books for young readers is a great series for beginning chapter book readers. The intriguing characters and relatable story line starts to create a love for the characters that makes the children want to keep on reading. These books by Beverly Cleary really make the beginning stages of reading chapter books more enjoyable for the young readers. These books are great independent reading for these students and as the students read they can complete a Plot Relationship Chart. A Plot Relationship Chart consists of four columns that discuss the main characters, hopes, dreams, goals of the main character, what obstacles the main character faces and how what happens in the end. This strategy is a great device for students to use because it helps support their understanding of main characters and the relationship the characters have with the problem and resolution.

Ramona is SO naughty in this one. I canNOT imagine what I would do if my 3-year-old invited all her friends for a Saturday party and never told me about it.

I loved the Ramona books as a child, and always felt thankful I didn't have an annoying little sister myself. Having re-read it again as an adult, I found that it is a great reminder not to take the little annoyances in life so seriously... sometimes you just have to laugh about them.
