2.5 stars.
Good illustration and fair orthographic training (rhyming words, in this case).

Hop on Pop is about several short poems about a variety of characters. It combines phonics and word recognition, making sounds and letters recognizable. It would be a good book for young readers.

Easy read for young children. I would offer this book to students for their first book to read.

The children’s book, Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss is a poetry book for young readers. The appropriate grade levels for this book include grades Kindergarten through second grade. The story incorporates rhyming words with the characters in the story that include Pup, Mouse, Jim, Fish, Pat, Thing, and many more. I love this book and I love Dr. Seuss! This book is great for teaching students rhyming words, repetition, and family rhyming words.
    Uses in the classroom
    -Read aloud as a group
    -Encourage independent reading
    -Introduce poetry/rhyming words/repetition to students
-Create a family words chart with students

This book is a great read for young children. The sentences are very simple for beginning readers. This book will also help children with rhyming.
