What can one say about Dr, Seuss books that hasn't already been said? It's doubtful there is anyone anywhere in the US that hasn't heard of Dr. Seuss or his most famous of books.
Since this book is similar to One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, it can be used to target the same skills. As an alternative lesson, for this book I would introduce the students to word ladders. Instead of having the students sort words that have been given to them, a word ladder will promote critical thinking and allow them to generate their own list. This could be done independently or in pairs.
