i loved this book!i was enthralled with olympia and haskell's encounters...what happened between them wasn't simply a kind of physical attraction... it was love in its purest and truest form, and perhaps love can do that - to overlook anything even the fact that olympia is just 15 years old and that haskell is married with a wife and 4 children...
as a reader, i know what olympia and haskell did was morally wrong...but i can't help but be happy for them in a way, for what they had was...

Didn’t Like It

I like Anita Shreve, and this book is probably well written. However, I "put it down" (i.e. stopped listening to my audio book) when it became clear that a 15 year-old-girl was going to have an affair with a 40-year-old man. Totally turned me off...I guess I'm getting more conservative in my old age.
