An absolutely mind-boggling book. Jensen does a better job than anyone else I know of dissecting the imperalistic violence of western civization, our destruction of native cultures and the environment. Over the years, we have institutionalized this violence as "patriotism" or "economic...

This is a great book. It's well-written, passionate, and committed to a deep set of values.

Derrick Jensen can be a bit wordy, but his heart is in the right place and his thought process is in the right direction. While I don't agree with the direction we should be taking, we stand solidly on the side of the damage caused by the way we do things now. Informative about certain ecological tragedies, Jensen is one of the few who is stepping up for nature, in a time when man has never desired so badly to tear it down.

It's huge, but very important to read. Brilliant analysis of our culture, but does not offer much hope.

If you only read one book a year, this should be it. Rips the veil off of society and really looks in.

An absolutely mind-boggling book. Jensen does a better job than anyone else I know of dissecting the imperalistic violence of western civization, our destruction of native cultures and the environment. Over the years, we have institutionalized this violence as "patriotism" or "economic growth." Only gradually, via "revisionist history" are we recognizing the truth about our oppressive culture.

very, very few books have the power to permanently change the people who read them, even with an opened mind and heart. this is one of them.

I'm not sure really what to say about this book, other than I couldn't stop reading it, especially after about two hundred pages or so. I already knew civilization was/is destroying everything in it's path before reading this book. Now I am better informed.
