Bernard Cornwell has created a rich and deep character in his Richard Sharpe series. Sharpe's Eagles is the first one published, though not the first in chronological order. I rate this book, and in fact all of the books in the seriies, as a success because the user puts the book down wanting to know more about the Napoleonic wars. I have learned much about the history of the early 19th century, and it's done in an interesting and gripping way. Cornwell has clearly done his research, and...
