“This volume was made up of three stories out of five. The other two are in a separate volume. The Calhoun sisters live in a big, old rambling Victorian home on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. Courting Catherine, A Man for Amanda and For the Love of Lilah each tell the love story of one of the sisters. Basically a handsome man meets a beautiful woman, anger, sparks fly, kiss, more sparks, more anger, etc. until they finally realize they are in love. One tale ends and the next one begins. Running through the tales is the story of a family in financial distress, threat of selling family home and rumors of a fabulous necklace owned by their great-grandmother.
While I like the occasional Nora Roberts book, I was not fond of this one. I tend not to like a couple of long stories cobbled together to make a book. Reading the stories was like watching Goundhog’s Day, each a repeat of the previous with a slight twist. I would have to read the next volume to finish the tale. And while I own the next book (I bought both at a garage sale) I think I will put them both in disposal box together and not bother reading the next one.
