Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7)

by J. K. Rowling

Readers beware. The brilliant, breathtaking conclusion to J.K. Rowling's spellbinding series is not for the faint of heart--such revelations, battles, and betrayals await in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that no fan will make it to the end unscathed. Luckily, Rowling has prepped loyal readers for the end of her series by doling out increasingly dark and dangerous tales of magic and... (more)

There MAY BE SPOILERS-- please beware!

How amazing in the typical JKR style. From beginning to end, the fight to the finish was unique, honest, funny, devastating, and encompassed so many memories from the past six books. From when Harry takes a look under the stairs and remembers how small he had been, and what life was like before magic, to reuniting with the giant spiders of the Forest, to the constant battle for blood rights and the return Buckbeak, memories abounded in this...

I come to bury Harry, not to praise him Because I really can’t praise this book, so I’ll attempt a great review, if not a review of a great novel. The ending was disappointing, to say the least. Although there are touches in this book that I enjoyed – the obvious (if repetitive) double-entendres throughout, Ron’s humour, Kreacher turning into a dandelion clock Braveheart – the best I can say about it is that “it’s better than Half Blood Prince”. But seeing as how I thought the HBP was...

I'm re-listening to the book on CD, and I just thought of something: in the cafe on Nottingham Court Road (the place Ron, Hermione, and Harry go after escaping the attack at Bill and Fluer's wedding), Hermione tells Ron and Harry she hasn't ever done a memory charm, but knows the principle, and proceeds to use "Obliviate" on the two Death Eaters. However, earlier in the book, at the Burrow, Hermione explains to Harry that she has modified her parents' memories. So hasn't Hermione in fact done a memory charm already, by the time she is in the cafe?

I have a question that I can't find in the book. At the end when it was his mind talking to Dumbledore "on the other side" was the he was afraid of that was like a small naked child that made the pitiful thumping noises? I totally didn't get what was.
