Featuring a foreword by Thomas Jefferson, a Dress the Supreme Court layout, and, oddly enough, a profile of George "The Iceman" Gervin, America (The Book): A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction, from Jon Stewart and the writers of the Emmy Award-winning The Daily Show, is by far one the most irreverent and wittiest (and may we add smartest) political book... Funny...but get the original edition

Pretty much everything has been said about this book. And all that has been said is true; it is funny, it is funny and it is indeed funny.

This "Teacher's Edition" however, has every page filled with 'notes' by supposedly some professor, who corrects all the factual errors in a dry/sarcastic way. Since these comments:

1) Are not funny
2) Don't do good to the educational value of this book (don't buy it to learn anything...)
3) Distract from the main text (every page is filled up to the edge with blurbs of red handwritten text and arrows pointing to them...)

They are really not necessarry. I understand the publisher wanted a second edition, but they shouldn't have done it this way.

So if you can get your hands on the original edition, buy that one. If you cannot, you'll have to put of with the irritating notes in the margins of the book, although the original content of the book is more than worth it.

Ok, these guys must have been smoking something as they were writing this book because it is way to funny! Though it is cover -to- cover, tear - jerking laughs, it is also laced with some profound truth. Excellent!
Shock & Awe shucks....

I have always found Jon's commentaries entertaining and informative. as such, I was looking for something with a comedic edge to make history more interesting for kids/ students. There are some interesting elements/slants on historical events in the "text" but I was disturbed by the profanity. As a result I won't leave it lying around for kids to pick up and read themselves. That is the shucks part!
The layout is hard to follow with all the side notes, crossouts, etc..
but, that is just my opinion. Iget the jist of it.
A little bit of Humor

I gave this two starts because, honestly, it has very little value. It's not very funny at all, and humor is all that it is supposed to be. Sorry Mr. Stuart.
