Didn’t Like It“Couldn't get past the pages-long description of the sun coming up around the world, followed closely by the lengthy description of an old woman's colitis attack.” see full review » see other reviews » |
“This was a little too much for me. The idea was ambitious - the making of an epic TV miniseries, and how that came to be. Still, I just wasn't into it.”

More of a collection of character pieces than anything resembling a coherent story. Luckily, the character pieces are interesting and well-written, but I did find myself rushing through the chapters dealing with my less-favored cast members. The ending, however, falls completely flat, and left me wondering why I had invested the time to read the book. There are certain expectations inherent in the reading of a novel (as opposed to a series of essays or short stories) and this book did not meet them. No conclusion, no plot arc, just a final section that seems remarkably distant from the previous 500-odd pages. Interesting, but ultimately unsatisfying.”
