More wisdom from Professor Bloom, this time donning the guise of Jewish mystic and founding member of his “Gnostic sect of one.” Although I confess all the goings-on about the Kaballah and the Tree of Life are beyond my ken, once he starts talking literature it’s a ticket to heaven. In an attempt to analyze the abstract and even mystical quality of genius, Bloom offers brief appreciations of 100 geniuses of western literature; every selection is useful. This is the perfect reference book....
