First Sentence

In retrospect, the title of Gloria Ladson-Billings's chapter would have been most appropriate for the entire book: "Yes, But How Do We Do It?" There is plenty of research for public consumption (journal articles, policy briefs, and books) and some inaccessible jargon around the simple fact that students of color, in particular African American students, are not achieving at the same rates academically as their White classmates in public school systems across the United States.
