“ The book takes place in a small town during World War II. In that town there, were many families, specifically, the Bowmans, a typical all American family. Mr. and Mrs. Bowman had two sons named Bill, and the youngest son, Davy. Bill goes off to the war to fly while his family waits anxiously for a letter from him. While Bill was off fighting for his country, all of America was running scrap drives, newspaper drives,and rationed things such as, meat, sugar, coffee, gas, and even nylons. Basically,anything they could use for the war efforts. Does Bill come home after his town and family has put so much work into the war efforts? Read ON THE WINGS OF HEROES to find out. I found this a very sweet and wholesome story where character and values really count.

Mr. Rich This is my favorite story because this talks about what you can do when you are still young it is a real good book. You wouldn't beleive what happens in this book it is awsome. It talks about what happened in the past.You had to raition many things back then. Because they had so many thing that was so important and everyone was using them. It was like recyceling.They were doing this because they had to use some of these things in the war.
