I really enjoyed this book. It explores a lot of different subjects regarding the breast and how it affects gender roles and the portrayal of women both now and throughout history. Particularly of note are the chapters on breast cancer and medicine throughout the ages.

Interestingly enough, I loaned this to a friend to read who was a guy, and he was extremely offended by the author's positions. I have a hard time understanding the problems he found with her notes except perhaps that as a male he felt uncomfortable reading about a history of men objectifying the breast and some of the bits of history that note Freud's psychological links between breast and male children. Who knows.

I still think it's great, though. All the sources are cited and the writing style is direct and focused.
