If There Be Thorns

If There Be Thorns

by V. C. Andrews

Chris and Cathy made such a loving home for fourteen-year-old Jory -- so handsome, so gentle. And for Bart, who had such a dazzling imagination for a nine year old.
Then the lights came on in the house next door. Soon the Old Lady in Black was there, watching them, guarded by her strange old butler. Soon she had Bart over for cookies and ice cream and asked him to call her... (read more)

Read this series while in high school (to many years ago) and was totally horrified by the whole family "togetherness". Reread it last year and even with 30 more years of life experience still found it as scary this go round.

Andrews writes a series about a family that is just full of backstabbing, incest and wrongdoing. Recommended

There's quite possibly nothing creepier than a woman in black trying to steal your baby. If anything, that is quite possibly the one detail in the entire novel that kept me reading--even though it was very easy to tell who the "mystery woman" was

Sorry read this way too long ago to remember what I thought of the rest of this series.

I read this whole series as a teenager. I couldn't put them down.

This sequel to the Flowers in the Attic has even darker plot. It makes you wonder if there are people like Chris and Cathy out there as the storyline was written so well.
