- Vlad Taltos: Baron Taltos due to purchasing a title in House Jhereg, a witch, an assassin, a crime boss in the Organization, unsual for an Easterner among Dragaerans. He also has many powerful friends who get him in many danerous situations.
- Morrolan eDrien: Powerful Dragon wizard, owner of Blackwand a magical Great Weapon. As all Dragons, He is quick tempered and a bit blood thirsty, a friend of sorts to Vlad.
- Cawti aka the Blade: Known as The Blade, she is contracted to assassinate Vlad.
- Loiosh: A small poisonous flying dragon, raised by Vlad from an egg to become Vlad's witchcraft Familiar. He is a wise cracking but loyal companion through all Vlad's endeavors.
