The early ones were eerie, and layered with a dark sumptuous quality. The characters exuded moral ambiguity and pulsated with taboo sexual desires and secrets. These books started so strong, but tapers off in intensity and effect across the series.”

The horror began with Flowers in the Attic, the terrifying tale of four innocent children locked away from the world by a cruel mother.
The shocking fury continued with Petals on the Wind and If There be Thorns. Now V.C. Andrews has created the last dark chapter in the strange, chilling tale of passion and peril.

I just really wanted to know how these people's story ended. I didn't care for the writing style, but I guess the people seemed real enough to me based on how they were created in the first book that I wanted to know what became of them.”
