There is a theory in literacy that says it's hard to learn something new if you don't already know something about it. This is true with Voltaire. I knew nothing. So this biography was difficult. I learned a bit, but not as much as others would have who kn ew more going in to it. I did gain great respect for this 18th Century philosopher and champion of the rights of man. His effects on the formation of the United States are immeasurable. And his courage and wit are second to none. Then I...
