Been borrowing James Rollins's books from friends in order that they were written.

Whereas the first two are adventures in the land, this one takes place mostly in the ocean. Lost continents, mysterious crystals with powers, makes for a fun adventure when mixed in with typical conflict raising factors like vengeance and ancient cult tasked with preserving secrets.

This book so far is the best one for me. My perception might be skewed because they warned me that they didn't like this one much after the first two. So my expectations were lower. I'm also a little biased towards ocean books.

This was another hard to put down book but I liked that this one was a little less manic with the action pace so I was able to picture it in my mind better and enjoy the story more.

JR still hasn't gotten to the level of Preston & Childs' novels but this book gets him closer.

I would actually give this 4.5 stars if I could.

Wow, action-packed! Couldn't put it down. Woke up at 3am this morning and had to finish it. Rollins is now one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed him even more than Clive Cussler! I liked the ancient cultures in this book and all the theorizing about the past. Very Stargate-like.

Entertaining read in the vain of Clive Cussler. This nautical adventure story has it all from archeology to the possible end of the world.

Finally, a book that rivals Cussler! Incredible exciting, heart-thumping, can't-put-it-down book! this is the first I've read of James Rollins and can't wait to devour the rest! Read it and become a fan, like me!

Undersea type of adventure. I cheated and peaked at the ending. Don't do it!

I'd have to say this book was good all the way through - up to the ending... It felt like Rollins suddendly took a turn with his ideas and went the "fantastic" route. Although somewhat connected, why did he have to incorporate "surrealism" in this otherwise semi-plausible storyline?? The ending was a bit too off kilter for me... and I enjoy fantasy novels!! Just not when I am reading a thriller... ;)
    Overall score - 3 stars... it's a decent read.

Interesting tale, but I half guessed where plot was going half way through the novel.

This is another great Rollins novel! In this book, the world is essentially destroyed by nature and then man and then, with dark matter and dark energy, they turn back the clock until none of it happened. It is so outrageous and over-the-top that it's a lot of fun to read.
