I like the Titanic story but this book was very dry and it hardly had any story to it. It was all about the people.

This is an amazing book about the last hours of the Titanic. And yes everything in this book is true. I loved this book so much I stayed up till 1 am reading it. I would not recomend this book to someone under the age of tweleve because it may be confusing to them. Also, do not read this book if you are not interested in the Titanic, or know what it is.

This novel is an account of the sinking of the supposedly "unsinkable" ship, the Titanic. Written using interviews from various passengers, this is the complete tale of the Titanic. It even has the precise time of everything that happens, and has detailed accounts of how passengers acted and felt. But because it is written using brief memories of different passengers, sometimes it is quite bothersome to read a paragraph starting with "on the other end of the ship..." and talking about what another person was thinking. The multiple perspectives and the fact that the novel is nonfiction cause it to be not such a great choice to complete beginners, but perfect for experienced fiction readers in search of a nonfiction novel.

Everything you ever needed to know about the Titanic and its passengers...Walter Lord is a master at writing accounts that will stick with you. Told through many voices - Lord interviewed every survivor he could...we get an account like no other.

Booktalk (only 20 lifeboats for over 2,000 passengers)

This book is all about the sinking of the titanic on its maiden voyage. It takes place starting at 11pm on April 14, 1912 and goes until the next day telling the story completely based on eyewitness accounts. The story is told by first class, second class, and third class passengers. Also by the crew. It is told in 3rd person.

At about 11:30 pm the ship struck an iceberg. Too many watertight compartments were filled up and the ship began to sink. People were running around frantically trying to get into lifeboats. They didn't know that there were only enough for half of the passengers. Many people died not from drowning, but because the water was freezing cold. This was a tragic event that will not be forgotten.

I've read a few books about the Titanic and Lord's is definitely the best. The sequel answers questions left over from this one and is just as good.

A Night To Remember by Walter Lord was one of the first books written about the Titanic. It was also the name of one of the first movies made about the Titanic. Even if you saw the new Titanic movie you might like the old movie and this book.
