Atheist Hemant Mehta gives churches some valuable friendly advice in this book. Mehta visited quite a few churches, large and small, around the U.S. He didn’t accept Christ, but he observed the things we do right…and wrong. I found myself cringing at many of the customs and practices he described because they were painfully familiar.

A major disappointment, especially since I enjoy the author's blog (www.friendlyatheist.com) so much. Maybe I expect better writing -- I've just finished "denser" books by Dawkins, Dennett, and Harris in recent weeks -- but this book felt like it was written by children, for children (that it was written for a Christian audience may not be a coincidence!). Major topics were glanced over and by the end I hadn't learned anything new.

    Brian,
I really enjoyed this book. I know everyone knows I'm Jesus Lover, but I enjoy hearing others opinions and thoughts, I found the book interesting and funny. I hope I'm not anything like the book!
