Marvelous! The insights of the Holy Father about who Jesus Christ is, against what the world says He is or should be are so sincere, and timeless. He has an amazing way of making difficult theological concepts understandable... and just making you think.

Excellent! Dispels a lot of the confusion brought on by "modern" studies of Who Jesus was (and IS). Very readable, very clear, very humble in its approach.

One of the finest book's I have read. Don't let thoughts of difficulty keep you from this--you can see the Holy Father's great love and incredible powers of communication here as he ponders Jesus. My first copy is underlined and full of notes, and I expect to turn to it again and again. Pope Benedict certainly points the way to a sure beauty--a certain elegance--in the quest of answering Jesus' own question: "Who do you say that I am?"

i'm hooked! ...and i'm just on the first three chapters! although not a casual, it is an excellent read for anyone wanting to know more on historical, theological and practical levels. Pope Benedict is a brilliant writer, and a compassionate soul.

This is one I'm keeping to reread parts. Too much to absorb in one reading. Explanation of the three parables was excellent.

Not a review but comment: While this is a study requiring thought and meditation and is not an easy read as one would certainly think when considering the authorship of Cardinal Ratzinger: Pope Benedict it is astounding in the message. Nothing new other than Benedicts wording and insight BUT it puts asunder all of the current "stuff" written about Jesus by the folks such as those writing and participating in the "Historical Jesus"???? Seminars etc. Take your time, enjoy and savor every word. Deep and thoughtful.

I expected this to be difficult. I'm finding it rich.

What an extraordinary book. It is one that deserves studying and not a light read. If you are of another faith and like to study, this book will provide you with a very strong understanding of the Christian faith and the one that it is founded on. I highly recommend. By the way, have your dictionary handy. You will need it. :-)
