“This book was written as a memoir by a WW2 POW from Wausau, WI. My stepmom helped Gerhard organize his notes and his mother's scrapbook clippings and letters so he could have a concise record. After the publication, this book saw quite a little popularity and even as he was hesitant to talk about his experiences, Gerhard enjoyed the attention at the many book signings he attended with Kathy. Gerhard was a family freind and I had known him since I was a small child. He and his wife were some of the most gentle and caring adults I knew back then. He recently passed away. Gerhard will be missed. This is a great gift for a veteran in your family.”
