A wonderful book, mainly about abnegation and an enduring love that surpasses time and place. Gide manages to create a unique work of art with this book, and I definitely enjoyed it.

Didn’t Like It

I originally read this book in French, as *La porte étroite.* This book isn't easily enjoyed without at least a brief study of the author's life.

This is a book that might be enjoyed by people who have had brushes with religious fundamentalism. =P The inverse of *L'immoraliste*, *Strait is the Gate* explores the damning consequences of unreasonable virtue.

I cannot claim to have enjoyed this book, but that is mostly because (and this is a fault of my own) I could not get...
