“very interesting and well told true story - we all know who shot Lincoln and this book tells of the 26 year old's assisin's run for his life. the author describes the "mood of postwar panic" - people celebrating the end of the Civil war but the country is not sure if Confederate forces have resumed fighting. it's amazing how slow news traveled back then... and how inacurate information misled /misguided the cavalry forces. I found the "final showdown" in the barn, humerous. you can tell that alot is gained by learning/detailing out history so same mistakes are not made.”
