The man who claims to know is not only an enemy of her brother's—he's hated him since her brother came up with a derogatory nickname during school—but he's a member of a family so disreputable society shuns them utterly. His older brother and father (both now dead) earned their wicked reputation. The hero and his younger brother do not deserve it. He wants to restore the family honor so his younger brother can marry—so he blackmails the heroine into agreeing to an engagement. Or at the very least, a courtship. He'll tell what he knows about Waterloo, if she'll help him. And things develop from there. It's a Beverley. Of course it's fabulous.”
