“Another great premise from Peretti and another bad ending. But I liked the beginning.”

Travis Jordan is a burned out pastor living in a small town called Antioch. When there are sightings of angels and a weeping crucifix the town is inundated with media people and business booms. The whole town is sucked into whirlwind caused by the "miracles". A man comes and says he is Jesus. Travis is of course leery. He is forced to look at his beliefs and assess his past. He investigates the man who proclaims himself to be the messiah. I listened to this on audio because I needed something to listen to while doing housework. I only had the abridged version here. I have read the book before and of course the entire book is much better than the abridged version. The spiritual warfare is more vivid in the book. Peretti uses words to help us visualize the spirit world doing battle. The battles are violent, they are not battles of words with evil and good trying to convert each other or reach a compromise. There are no gray areas. I highly recommend Peretti's books to all people especially Christians. They will make a person think.

“I made it through this book, but it wasn't good. I find it interesting that others said that this is scary because of how easily it could happen....I must have read a different book, because the book I read was pure fantasy. I prefer books where characters have paranormal abilities, but I was confused as to how this could happen.
I made it throught the first 375 pages pretty easily and then the book fell apart. Pick up a Ted Dekker or Stephen King book.”
“Another interesting read. It becomes more laughably entertaining towards the end.”

Peretti held my attention and always had me wanting more. There were plenty of nights that I would fall asleep, book in hand. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good page turner.”

The book and movie are nothing a like, but I won't lie I love the book and the movie. I just wish the movie could have been based more off the book. This is my favorite book by Peretti.”
