But this is a great book for its description of the problems the family faces in India, and actually seems interesting to read against A Fine Balance, which takes place during Indira Gandhi's government in the same country. Interesting how the concerns have shifted somewhat, both politically and at the basic level of how families deal with tragedy and poverty.”
