I don't generally enjoy history books, but this is a must-read. America in 1776 was a far more raw, far more interesting place than I had thought. McCullough does a great job of analyzing Washington as man and leader. Every highschooler should read this to gain a better understanding of how our nation began.”

McCullouch makes history like a very interesting novel -- the characters and the actions read just like a novel.”

If I were not living in the United States of America I would not believe George could have won. What an amazing story we are as a nation and written down so well by David McCullough. Thanks Dave and thank you George Washington!”
