Best book that I've read in a while, but then again, all of Crichton's books blow me away. Congo made me think about the meaning of life, and also about the meaning of evil gorillas with stone paddles that only want to crush your skull. I would recommend this to anyone who can read.

I liked Crichton's no-nonsense writing style. Congo was very straightfoward and fast-paced, and the scientific and technical nature appealed to the computer geek in me. The decent explanations of the jargon were helpful. The action and suspense was good but brief, and some scenes left me wanting more.

An excellent science fiction book, perfect for any scifi fan. The story follows a group of company scientists and their guides on a search for an ancient lost city thought to hold a special kind of diamond that could make their company rich. On the way, they must deal with the deadly jungle enemy company mercenaries, and canibalistic natives.

near the legendary ruins of the Lost City of Zinj, an expedition of eight American geologists is mysteriously and brutally killed in a matter of minutes. Ten thousand miles away, Karen Ross, the Congo Project Supervisor, watches a gruesome video transmission of the aftermath: a camp destroyed, tents crushed and torn, equipment scattered in the mud alongside dead bodies

I thought that this was a good book that shows that if you work hard for what you want you will get it. The youngest girl in the firm has worked for the spot that she got on the team. she did not get to be the leader of the team in the Congo but after the disaster hits she is appointed the new team leader and gets what she wants. This was a good book that i would recommend to people who like mysteries.

Could have been better. I don't know why Ken & Dad liked this book so much...they couldn't wait to go to the movie when it came out. ??? 150 long pages dragging on and on with technical talk about getting ready for this trip. You don't know if it's actually Gorillas attacking or some other creature. Confusing. Turns out it was Gorillas that had been trained to attack and guard the lost city of Zinj's diamond treasures. Ended stupidly too. Yuck!
