Only for die-hard Joy Division fans. Interesting to learn what his influences were. All told by his sympathetic wife after his death. Basis of the film "Closer," which follows it to a T.

Deborah Curtis' painfully honest account of her husband's life is - considering Joy Division's often religious fan-base - as brave as it is disarming. Often reading like a diary, the simple narrative style helps reflect the narrative events, encapsulating the difficulties Curtis must have been facing during her husband's rise to fame. Ian Curtis, as with most famous rock stars, is shown to be a weak, conflicted individual and Deborah Curtis does little to hide her grievances with her late husband. Deborah Curtis, for her part, also does extremely well to balance hind-sight with re-telling the story of her younger, ill-prepared self. Worth the asking price for the comprehensive reprinting of all his lyrics alone, Touching From A Distance sits apart from the shameless brown-nosing rock biography genre.

A must-read after seeing the movie "Control". Control was one of the best movies of 2007. This will let you know what marriage is like with a Cancer. It was written by his wife.
