Beautiful work....each time I turned the page, I felt like I was delving deeper into a Japanese excursion. The romance is elegant, the setting is divine. I captured a true appreciation for this foreign culture, as well as the influence of history, of war, of international relations. The work is truly magnificent, a compilation of fact, fiction, and literary prowess. Didn’t Like It

I thought the plot held great promise, but I found the writing slightly disjointed. The book not only discussed life during and after Hiroshima, but also in the present (20 years later). This is definitely not a happily ever after tale. I felt it started a little slow, and ended rather abruptly.
