Gale K 3 out of 5 stars Alias Grace is an interesting, fictional account of Grace Marks, a convicted murderess of the nineteenth century. Atwood has used verse, quotes from famous authors, letters, and a compilation of available, if not conflicting information, to present this story....

Is Grace a villain or a victim? If you're like me your opinion will shift many times over the course of this fascinating piece of historical fiction by one of the foremost chroniclers of the truth of womens lives.

I enjoyed this book. The main reason it didn't get four stars was the length. Though well-written, the lengthy descriptions were a bit much and I found like Dr. Jordan, my interest in what Grace had to say fluctuated. I liked the creative liberties with the facts that Atwood took and I feel it fleshed out the story of Grace Marks for an audience that might only know some minimal facts about the case.

Took a while to get into, and i'm afraid it annoys me when a book has no proper ending...personal view I know!

Excellent book - Atwood imagines the details to the true life of Grace - a convict form Canada in the 1800's.

This was another fabulous M Atwood book! Loved the main character as I tried to decipher guilt or innocence of Canada's most notorious murderess.
