Things don't go quite as planned. This book is a warning against those that gain unchecked power despite good intentions, and a pretty blatant satire on totalitarian...” see full review » see other reviews » |

Its a story about some farm animals who are fighting for their independence from the farmer. They are tired of being oppressed and want their independence. So eventually they get it and they make a society of animals. The animals make some commandments that only few animals can read. At first everyone is equal, then the pigs the thinkers slowly start to have more power. After a while though the head pig Napoleon drives the good pig Snowball out and controls the animals with attack dogs. Also Napoleon rules with fear and pointing fingers.
Animal Farm had some great moments to it like when you discover the pigs sold the best horse Boxer to a meat packaging company for beer. However none of these moments can add up to the best part at the end. All of the animals sad at their crumpling government hear the pigs inside their private house and spy on them. What they see is the pigs drinking with the humans and they are actually making a treaty. After all the animals had fought for. But the best part is the last line of the book where it says,"It was hard to tell which were the pigs and which were the humans." I thought that was a great line because it shows a lot about society and History which I found intriguing. This book can be a little boring. However it has great moments and if you love History you'll love this book.

When the pigs take over as dictators, the animals learn that equality sometimes is not equal for everyone.”

Watch the Russian Revolution unfold right before your eyes as the pigs rise up against the other animals and gradually become just like the humans.
This is a very interesting story. It breaks down the Russian Revolution and simplifies it so that any reader can understand what happened. Although I had to read it for ninth grade English, I still enjoyed it.”
