  • Elizabeth Bennet Darcy, aka "Lizzy": Second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet of Longbourn, newly married to Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley. An independent thinking, lively, witty, strong-willed young woman of twenty-one.
  • Fitzwilliam Darcy, aka Will or Willie: New husband of Elizabeth Bennet, older brother of Georgiana Darcy, master of Pemberley since father's death five years before. Considered a proud, arrogant, self-centered, private man, he is changing his ways under Lizzy's influence.
  • Georgiana Darcy: Younger sister of Fitzwilliam Darcy. Very shy and naïve, musically talented seventeen year old beauty who adores her brother.
  • Jane Bennet Bingley: Oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet of Loungbourn, newly married to Charles Bingley. Has a sweet, kind temperament that cannot see the evil in anyone.
  • Charles Bingley: Newly wed husband of Jane Bennet, Darcy's closest friend, dating from their years at Cambridge together; brother of Caroline Bingley and Louisa Bingley Hurst. A most even-tempered and amiable man.
  • Caroline Bingley: Haughty, proud, malicious, serpent-tongued sister of Charles Bingley and Louisa Bingley Hurst.
  • Mrs Louisa Hurst: Married sister of Charles Bingley and Caroline Bingley. Her husband is an indolent, taciturn, boring gourmand with a penchant for liquor and gambling. Conceited, over-proud woman with little to recommend her.
  • Colonel James Fitzwilliam: Cousin of Darcy and Georgiana Darcy
  • Lady Catherine De Bourgh: Sister of Lady Anne Darcy. An imperious old woman, aunt of Fitzwillim and Georgiana Darcy, who wanted Darcy to marry her daughter Anne de Bourgh, and tried to prevent Darcy's marriage to Elizabeth.
  • Mr. Bennet: Father of the fvie Bennet girls. a witty, intellectual man, married to a very silly, garrulous wife, he retreats to the quiet of his library. Longbourn, his estate is entailed away from their daughters. Lizzy is his favorite child.
  • Mrs. Bennet: A self-absorbed, fluttery, garrulous, materialistic woman, interested only in marrying off her five daughters.
  • Mr. and Mrs Gardiner: Uncle and aunt of the Bennet girls. Mr, Gardiner is their mother's brother. They live in Gracechurch Street in London. Mr. Gardiner loves to fish.
  • Mr Godfrey: Innkeeper in Highbury
  • Trevor Handley: 35 year old former friend of the Darcy's who lived at Pemberley for a year and a half after his father's death when he was a young man to learn from Mr Darcy. Was like an older brother to Darcy whom he called Willie.
  • Mr. and Mrs Robert Alexander: Old Mr. Darcy's closest friends, though Anne Darcy felt they were beneath her regard, Their estate Great Oaks is near Highbury. Generous, agreeable people. Want to help Darcy untangle the mysteries of his childhood. Robert was at Oxford with James Darcy.
  • Thomas Hill: Elderly lodgekeeper for Pemberley. Friend of Travis Handley and young Darcy..
  • Wickham: Scoundrel husband of the youngest Bennet sister, Lydia.
  • Edward Alexander: Youngest son of the Alexanders. A talent musician he has just returned from studying in Vienna. He and Georgianna played music together as children. He's now back, tall, dark and handsome.
  • Mrs Reynolds: Pemberley housekeeper
  • Lady Margaret Westby: Misses the lively wit and intelligent conversation of her former best friend, the deceased Lady Anne Darcy. Considers herself the arbiter of Derbyshire high society, and believes it is her right to inform Darcy that he has married beneath himself.
  • Mr. James Darcy: A kind caring man, husband of Lady Anne, father of Fitzwillim and Georgiana, put down by his flamboyant wife. At Oxford with Robert Alexander.
  • Dr Andrews: Doctor for Pemberley,
  • Sir William Lucas: Bennet's nearest neighbor.
  • Lady Anne Darcy: Died when Georgiana was born and Darcy was thirteen. A proud, forceful, distainful woman. Doted on her son, and preferred him to her husband. Sister of Lady Catherine De Bourgh. Of similar supercilious, haughty natures.
  • Lady Penelope Arthur: Arrogant, conceited dame with three impertinent daughters.
