I had forgotten how much I love this book. How luck we all are that Charles Dickens chose to be a writer!

Charles Dickens' descriptive power never ceases to amaze me.

LOL... I can understand that Hamsini. You just have to adjust your way of thinking and adapt the cadence of Dickens' language. Most of his stuff is depressing, reflective of his time, but if you can stick through a few chapters you may be grateful that you did try again!

so FUNNY! Silas Marner was the killer for me... think in 7th grade. The book was probably under 200 pages and I remember thinking at the end: gee, I could have written the whole thing in 2 paragraphs. What a drudge.Did love Dickens though... go figure. Guess I was older and could hang with the Classic lingo by then.

I just loved ur review. I felt the same when we were reading the book in our "Novel 1" class, at uni.Dickens could have told the same story with aout 100 pages less than what the book is now, but he has added to many somehow unnecessary ups and downs, just to keep u reading!
