“A heart rendering, captivating look at one of basketballs most iconic players. He played with a style that no other white players of the era could duplicate. He was considered a showboat and ball hog by many of his teammates, yet loved and admired by millions of fans. His era was ending as I was growing up in my teen years, but this book brought his persoanl story to life for me. A very troubled yet highly disciplined individual. Pushed to greatness by his father.”

I liked it overall, but skipped a several pages throughout and actually never finished this book even after trying to for 2 mos. Pistol Pete was a great player and wonderful talent. He was a basketball genius and as with most geniuses they are underappreciated and mistreated and leave us far too quickly. From what I read, the book was just a basic run through of his games and stats and his off court issues and drama. ”

He was a child prodigy molded obsessively by his father. It's a haunting story, filled with tragedy, but with redemption at the end. Any sports fan, and any fan of biographies, must read this.”

It was interesting to see the humble roots Pete Maravich came from, and how his hard work and dedication to the game paid off. ”

He is my idol and I look up to him as my inspiration. He had more tricks than the Harlem Globetrotters. The Pistol's legacy will live on forever. I give this book not a five, but a five hundred!”

But he wrote two fascinating books about two fascinating atheletes. Mention Pistol Pete to anyone old enough to have seen him play (especially in college) and their stories will make the stories in this book all the more magical. ”
