This would be a great book to use for a thematic unit that taught students about rural life in the south. The book is also great for having students study about the antebellum south and how images of people and diversity have changed.

You could also use this book to have students design their own newspaper!
You could have the students design a newspaper online. You can email them or upload them onto various sites, like your school's webpage, and even print and post them on the wall.

This is a very important classic book that everyone should read. After having the class read the book, each student will make a movie poster. Each student will create one, they will add pictures, quotes from the book and create an appealing catchy phrase. Once the class is done creating their movie posters, you will hang them up in the hall around school trying to get other students and classes interested in the book so they will read it.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is another American classic that many people throughout their academic career have read. This book can be incorporated into the classroom by having the student create their own newspaper about the events that are happening in the story. Students who are elementary school should probably not read this book quite yet.

This is also another great book that I've have read. The book has tons of adventures and they are really cool. The best part of the book was from when Tom tells the people about Injun Joe and the very end. This is a really great book.

Always a classic that students enjoy hearing the story behind. I’d like to read this book to my students and then assign them the task of creating a movie poster and ad to promote the theatrical version of the story. Great way for the children to dig deep into the story and find the most appealing parts to them to be incorporated in the ad.

Sparkling with mischief, jumping with youthful adventure, Mark Twain's Tom
This book is very popular and widely used in elementary school classrooms for numerous types of activities. This book can stir up classroom discussions that can help the class both inside and out in the real world. Writing activities are also a plus with topics relating to events in the book.

This book would be perfect to have the kids create an alternative ending. I think it would be really fun for them to change it around, create their own, and then have everyone share with the entire class.
