In her debut novel, author Gemma Halliday writes a gem of a mystery. Maddie Springer, the protagonist, is a shoe designer for children with her own passion for shoes. Her boyfried, Richard, goes missing along with a client and twenty million dollars to boot. In order to save the day, and her love interest as well, Maddie must step up her investigation and solve the whodunit before the police arrest Richard.

I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more in the series.

Very funny mystery series. If you like the inept case cracker a la Stephanie Plum, you will enjoy the humorous escapades of Maddy as she tries to figure out where her boyfriend has gone and what happened to 20 million dollars that he "misplaced."

This book definitely reminds me a little of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, but it isn't as good, as likable, or as fun.
The main character is pretty pathetic and a bit frustrating (she spends the entire book freaking out because she might be pregnant but she won't take a test).
And there was a lot of sexual scenes (male strip club with her mother, on set of a porno film) and language (mom and mom's friend talk dirty) for a novel where the two love interests never get together.
All in all, it was fairly crude. I won't be reading anymore books in the series.

Maddie Springer is a twenty-something woman trying to earn an honest living so she can support her shoe habit. She's currently dating Richard, a lawyer, and thinks their relationship is heading somewhere. That is until she learns that one of his clients has embezzled $20 million dollars and Richard may be his accomplice. She's not sure what to think as Richard goes missing and his client's wife is found dead in her pool.

Maddie decides to take matters in her own hands and starts an investigation of her own. She quickly learns that Richard isn't the man she thought he was as her digging uncovers his secrets. During her investigation, she meets cute Detective Ramirez and sparks fly. The only problem is, Detective Ramirez has a warrant for Richard's arrest. Can Maddie prove that Richard is innocent?

Good start to what I'm sure will be a great series.

A great mystery series with a stylish amateur sleuth. The High Heel Mystery Series has Maddie Springer, shoe designer, thrown into some wacky crime situations aided by her best friend, Dana, and Marco. Lots of unusual and colorful characters. Gemma Halliday is the author of this relatively new mystery series. Check out her website at http://www.gemmahalliday.com/

This is a really cute, well told story. It's a humorous murder mystery. The heroine is Late—as in “pee on a stick” late, and her boyfriend has gone missing. In a mysterious way. As in his best client is charged with embezzlement and the cops think the boyfriend knows something. And so one of the cops starts hanging around with the heroine to see what she knows. Things start happening, and not just in one area of the heroine's life. Everything pretty much goes haywire. It is really a fun read. I got a big kick out of it.
